This startup has a vision of making 100% of people have a qualification of 10Th Pass. they started their pitch in which they described how children in small villages are unable to go to school. Parents don’t send their girls to schools as they don’t have a school nearby and ask them to learn the household work which will help them in future. Fathers ells their sons to join them in their fields so that they can also learn the work as that’s what their future is.

There is a total of 8 lakh primary schools in our country and only 4 lakh middle schools and one and a half lakh secondary schools. You might be surprised after reading this but the attendance in secondary schools is only 50%. Out of 100 students, only 30 pass the 10th standard.

Students can take tests after every chapter, Report Cards are available and the parent-teachers meeting is just like a real school. When the phones were not existing then we use to go to STDs and PCOs. When we were not having internet then we go to cybercafes and with the same thought, AAS Vidyalaya Education Cafe came into existence.

They have installed Tabs in their education cafes which only AAS VIdyalaya’s classes happen. Students around the villages come to this cafe whenever they get time. AAS Vidyalaya is taking the school to every home because one of those kids may turn out to be the next Kalpana Chawla or Abdul Kalam.

Vikas Kakawani was born and brought up in Meerut which is an old city. His parents were not educated and his father run a small business. He enrolled Vikas in a convent school for 13 Years and his father never visited school because he did not know how to speak English. He did engineering from IIT Roorkee and went to IIM Lucknow then he served in Corporate.

Leela Kakawani was also born and brought up in small-town- Kanpur. She has done child psychology and they are blessed with one son.

No, AAS Vidyalaya is the first one to run an online school in India.

When you divide India into four parts LI, L2, L3, AND L4. The majority of Indian Edtech was focusing on the top5% and the Government focuses on L4 which is the bottom 50% because we want to make everyone literate for which primary education is good enough.

Now the remaining 45% population of India in the middle, earns 30,000 Rs a month but the problem comes here as the schools are not near them or the teachers are not available. They decided to start with NCERT- English medium curriculum. They focus on classes 6 to 10 only.

Maybe they are not targeting your niche as they feel that they can not make enough money from there. I have not understood the business model as this business model is financially stability wise. He feels that the enthusiasm and purpose are great and they should pursue the same but for taking it at heights they need funding not through private but more and more through C.S.R. and more grants. I can not give you private funding so I am out.

You are doing work to remove a problem and the clarity of your purpose is very great. Secondly, you are focusing on a market that is currently not focused on by anyone else. This market is not exciting but this is necessary.
